Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before your first capsule if you take any of the following: diabetes medicine (metformin, a sulfonylurea, insulin), blood pressure medicine, a statin, a blood thinner (warfarin, clopidogrel, apixaban, rivaroxaban, daily aspirin), cyclosporine or another immunosuppressant, an antidepressant, levothyroxine, tamoxifen or hormone therapy, or methotrexate. Also check first if you are pregnant, nursing, have a thyroid or hormone-sensitive condition, or have surgery or dental work scheduled within two weeks. Every interaction flag in the formula
Inhibits CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and P-glycoprotein, so it can slow how the body clears a wide range of medicines and raise their blood levels. Statins, cyclosporine, some blood thinners and some antidepressants are all affected. It also lowers blood sugar. Not for use in pregnancy or while nursing, and never for newborns.
Its structure resembles heparin and it shows anticoagulant and antiplatelet activity. Combining it with warfarin, clopidogrel, apixaban, rivaroxaban or daily aspirin needs medical advice. Stop before surgery.
Each lowers blood sugar mildly. Together with berberine that is four ingredients acting on the same system in one capsule — the most realistic safety concern in this formula for anyone on diabetes medicine.
May add to SSRIs and other serotonergic antidepressants. May lower blood pressure slightly and may have a mild antiplatelet effect. Avoid in pregnancy.
Contains isoflavones acting as weak plant oestrogens. Check with a doctor if you have a hormone-sensitive condition, take tamoxifen or hormone therapy, or take methotrexate.
Fucoxanthin and fucoidan can carry iodine, and excess iodine can disturb thyroid function. Berberine can also affect levothyroxine absorption.
Reported effects, and what to do
- Stomach cramping or nausea. Most common in week one. Almost always resolved by taking the capsule with a proper meal.
- Loose stools or diarrhoea. A known berberine effect. If it does not settle within a week of taking it with food, stop and speak to a pharmacist.
- Headache. Occasionally reported early on. Check hydration and whether anything else changed at the same time.
- Shakiness, sweating or confusion. Possible signs of low blood sugar, particularly on diabetes medicine. Stop and contact your prescriber.
- Unusual bruising or bleeding. Stop and get medical advice, especially alongside a blood thinner.
- Nothing at all. The most common outcome by a distance, and the realistic expectation.
Stop immediately and seek medical attention for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, rash, swelling or difficulty breathing. You can also report a problem with any supplement to the FDA through its MedWatch programme.

Does MemoVolt have side effects?
The most commonly reported issue is stomach upset in the first week, usually from taking the capsule on an empty stomach. Taking it with a meal resolves it for most people.
Does it interact with medications?
Yes. Berberine inhibits CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and P-glycoprotein, which can raise blood levels of many medicines. Fucoidan has blood-thinning activity. Four ingredients lower blood sugar.
Who should not take it?
Anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or nursing, anyone on a blood thinner without medical advice, anyone with a hormone-sensitive condition who has not checked about the kudzu, and anyone with surgery within two weeks.
Can you take it with diabetes medicine?
Not without speaking to your prescriber. Four ingredients lower blood sugar, and stacking them on metformin, a sulfonylurea or insulin can push it too low.
Can you take it with blood thinners?
Ask a doctor first. Fucoidan has anticoagulant activity because its structure resembles heparin, and saffron may have a mild antiplatelet effect.
Stop before surgery?
Yes, at least two weeks before any scheduled surgery or dental extraction, and tell your surgical team.
